Nadine van Veldhuizen creates tormented, wonderous figurative sculptures.
To take a closer look at the multiple aspects of our personality, she dives in her research underneath the surface of human identity.
Trough her sculptures Nadine helps us to give thought at the versatility of people and all the different layers of state of mind.
She pushes the characteristics of materials everyone is familiar with to its limits to construct and shape her figures. Wooden laths as bones oppose foam for flesh, or cardboard to create muscle tension.
Although her figures claim their own autonomy, an internal struggle is manifested within them and into relation with their opponents they even open up a new conversation.
